The dynamics of dilute polymeric solutions is investigated in wall turbulent flow. No indication of a sharp coil-stretch transition is observed. Instead, instability of the Gaussian manifold and semi-stretched states with a power law distribution of the polymer extension are found along certain trajectories. In the bulk flow, polymers are only weakly stretched. Throughout the flow, polymers very quickly become highly oriented parallel to the mean flow direction. for LaTeX users @article{PIlg2002-58, author = {P. Ilg and E. De. Angelis and I. V.
