Vlasov-Boltzmann model of colloid particle

Larisa Tatarinova

Institute of Polymers, ETH Zentrum

The aim of the talk is to present a new approach for description of an isolated colloid particle in a solvent, and to discus physical applications if this model as well as more interesting directions of its development. In accordance with our approach a colloidal particle is investigated as a great number of molecules linked in one hole body by mean field interaction, and initial description is based on the full microscopic level, when interactions between particles are determined by the laws of the classical mechanics. Method of reduction description is applied to get Vlasov-Boltzmann equations for both colloid and solvent distribution functions. The equilibrium solutions are found. These solutions have been used as zero approximation for both Chapman-Enskog and Ehrenfest's methods for derivation of hydrodynamic and diffusion equation.
