13 :30 at ML H 37.1Phenomena as diverse as the mechanical properties of solids and the functional and electronic behavior of biological macromolecules, involve activity at several length scales, from the atomistic to the continuum. Modelling this behavior across scales is important and challenging. Efforts to apply multiscale models to representative phenomena, such as the chemical embrittlement of metals, or the functioning of biological enzymes, will be presented and analyzed, with special emphasis on the potential for future applications.
