10:15 at HCI J 574A two-way coupled simulation technique for a dilute suspension of rigid fibers in turbulent flows is developed. It is based on an Eulerian direct numerical simulation of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and a Lagrangian direct Monte-Carlo simulation of the fiber conformation. The developed simulation tool is employed to study the turbulent drag reduction by rigid fibers in a channel flow. In particular, the modification in turbulence intensities due to the action of fibers is studied using the pressure-strain correlation.
