Stability problem in the Lattice Boltzmann Method: H-theorem and structured formulation

Lattice Boltzmann integrators of hydrodynamic equations are reviewed, focusing on the problem of numerical stability. Recent results are presented, including the H-theorem for discrete time kinetic equations, anomaly-free entropy functions, the Boltzmann-like and the GENERIC-like forms of collision operators, as well as recent alternative approaches.
